National Mall Mini Sessions | DC Family Photographer

Gah… my calendar just opened for the fall, which included National Mall Mini Sessions. My location for my National Mall Mini Sessions is usually at either the Reflecting Pool (and Lincoln when it’s not under crazy amounts of construction) or the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. For families who want even more variety, I’d recommend booking two back to back slots; depending on where we start, I can include a lot more in just a little extra time…or you can book your own hour long family session for the National Mall instead! (Talk to me though if you want an hour on a mini session date so I can readjust pricing with the permit for you.)

These National Mall Mini Sessions are some of my favorite as a photographer. They never ever get old. Even when I drive by these monuments, it’s still just as exciting for me as day one, and this year marks 10 years of being in the DC area (round 2).

What is great about National Mall Mini Sessions versus booking on your own is that you get to split the permit cost with other families. If you book on your own and have me get the permit for you, it’s about $145 . Sometimes I can get one more family to piggy back on a session, but not always…so sometimes you have that additional cost onto your session.

So… a few things… I do these at sunrise. But there are less people at sunrise and the lighting is MAGICAL. And I research the day to ensure there are no road closures; I always do these right before the time change to ensure that we get the latest sunrise possible.

If you want to join in the fun this year, here’s the info.

National Mall Minis will be held on on October 20. Sessions will be 25-30 minutes long. Cost is $425 plus tax (and that includes the permit fee) and includes your choice of 10 digital images from the edited gallery. For $175 more, you can have all of the images from your gallery!
 
If we have bad weather, we will reschedule for later in the day on October 20 (so please keep the day open and be flexible). If that day doesn’t work, I’ll use October 27 if it doesn’t look like I’ll need it for my tree farm minis or or Nov. 3. I’m really picky about dates for National Mall sessions because so many events and races happen that can cause road closures.

This also includes consultation prior to session, assistance with styling, session fee, online gallery of edited images, and print release for all images. Only six people are allowed for these sessions. Additional family members are $20 per person. (You can have 12 people if you book an hour.) 

Because of the permit fee, there is no returning client discount. Maryland sales tax will be added to the listed price. Clients can purchase prints in gallery store. Exact location will be determined based on construction status happening ont he mall. It’ll be either near the Thomas Jefferson Memorial or the Reflecting Pool
