National Mall Mini Sessions

National Mall Mini Sessions are one of my favorite types of sessions. They meet my requirements of getting a variety of looks, but they are also so incredibly classic. I’ve photographed so many different vibes, and this couple was my first formal session! I love when people who are transplants try to get photos in the many places they live!

We’ve done the same… when we were in Texas we took photos in bluebonnets and then in St. Louis we have photos by the Arch! What’s great about these sunrise sessions is that the weather is usually more stable in the morning in the summer so you can almost always get the session in…you just may have to delay!

Afternoons aren’t as empty, and afternoon weather in the summer is tricky as we get a lot of pop-up storms. If you’re visiting from out of town, a sunrise National Mall mini sessions should be something on your bucket list!

If you want ideas for outfits, this family did casual and brought the dog! The DC War Memorial can also be a pretty backdrop for weddings or portraits. There are so many places on the Mall that aren’t Lincoln that an give you an iconic DC look!

I am doing National Mall minis September 9, 2023 at the Jefferson Memorial. If you’d like to book, head over to my Facebook event for all of the details!

WEDDING & PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY FOR PEOPLE WHO want their story told

Hi. I’m Teresa. While photography is a part-time job for me, documenting your stories doesn’t ever get treated like it’s not important. My full-time gig is teaching high school English, journalism, and photography at an all-boys’ school in Washington, DC. Journalism is my favorite subject to teach because it is as much about writing as it is about the art of observing the world, and I became a photographer because of my experiences in photojournalism.

You’ll see in galleries with my families, children, newborns, or weddings, my style definitely is more about documenting connection and trying to create real moments. I love a good portrait, but my heart is happiest when I get real smiles from people loving on and playing with each other.
