National Mall Engagement Photographer | S+A’s Session

I love being a National Mall Engagement Photographer. Honestly, I love being able to document anyone—couples, grads, families, military— at the National Mall. As a DC transplant (originally from the Lou — and I’m proud — shout out if you know that is Nelly), seeing the monuments as drive by my normal routine working and living near Washington, DC never gets old.

I was so honored when S reached out for a session…. after reaching out she and A got engaged and it became an engagement session. I loved being a National Mall Engagement Photographer for them. Their chemistry was amazing. S was getting out of the military, and the two were moving to a nearby state to start their lives together and to get married.

The monuments provide such an amazing backdrop for so many, and S+A were my LAST session at the Lincoln Memorial before construction began in spring of 2023. I miss having these views so much! I cannot wait for when the columns open up again for photos. I love all of my National Mall sessions for a number of reasons. First, you can get so much variety. We went to Lincoln, the Reflecting Pool, walked in the grass and got great backdrops of the Washington Monument, took photos near World War II, and even ventured over to the picturesque lake everyone forgets about just north of the reflecting pool.

A few things to note about all of my National Mall sessions. I offer minis year round as part of my Family Collections, but I offer special National Mall Minis once or twice a year. I try to schedules these at sunrise when the sunrise is as late as it can be, so they are usually right before the time changes. If you opt for an afternoon session, you’ll get more of the vibe with people like S+A did. Sunrise sessions are pretty empty! The Parks Department requires at permit for all sessions at the National Mall…it’s $140 plus a handling fee for me to do it for you (total is $145 since I lose a bit of money on CC fees and need to make that up to collect $140). What’s great is this is a DAILY fee, not hourly like many venues. I’ll often try to find a client to split the cost with someone or on my planned National Mall Minis days, I can share the cost within a larger group of people so you don’t have to pay that huge fee on your own. (I have paid the $140 for my family’s sessions there. It is totally worth it still.)

I would LOVE to be your National Mall engagement photographer or your National Mall family photographer. To book a session, email me at teresa@tcjdesign.com or go through my contact page here.
