It is not every day I wake up to an email from Clickin Moms that an image you submitted got a pretty big recognition. But mid December, I got that just that. On a whim, I submitted an image from an extended friends that are family session to the month Clickin Moms contest. I never […]

Shoot and Share Contest 2018: The Roundup on Getting into the Top 100
January was the beginning of one of the craziest and hardest years of my life. My husband was out of state in pre-deployment training, I was starting the second semester at a new school, and I was juggling being a single mom with running a part-time business. With everything going on, I realized something had […]
Life Update: Learn why you need to book your fall sessions today!
So, this blog post has been coming for a while. In case you didn’t know, I’m a military spouse, and any of us who are military spouses know that we aren’t completely in control of our lives. Part of why I got into photography was I needed a more flexible job that I could control […]
Sunflower Mini Session | Calvert County Lifestyle Photographer
So while I’ve been trying to cut back on photography, I just couldn’t resist sunflowers. I had been hunting for some last summer, but everything I found was too far away. Then, I came across an event on Facebook with the Accokeek Foundation featuring their Sunflower Days. One of my best friends from college was […]
Small Business Feature: Medart Galleries in Dunkirk, Maryland
So I don’t know how many of you are like me, but I take a lot of photos of my kids. When they were little, I bought the month by month stickers, and I made sure I took a photo. With my first, I was religious about it. I took them on the monthly milestone, […]

You may see “Lifestyle and Documentary” photographer and wonder what that really means…while I do some “portraits” here and there, most of what I try to capture is life. I want the natural smiles, the interaction between people, and the details of what makes […]
Documenting life again after the winter blues
If you are interested in a documentary session, don’t wait. What is great about TRUE documentary is you don’t have to plan anything. You just do your normal thing. I can even show up while you are still in PJs (and actually that’s even better). It’s about capturing the routine–the making of breakfast, the sharing of meal and conversation, the play, the discipline, the love–every good and bad part of what your life is like RIGHT NOW.
How to have an amazing family session with young children
Do you see photos taken of friends’ families and wonder how they got amazing shots? Despite what many think, the key of an amazing family session is NOT just a good photographer. Parents play a HUGE role in making a family session with young children amazing.
I’ll be honest. I never realized this until I had kids myself. Any good shots we got as a family were not because of anything I did. They are usually the result of the hard work my husband puts in making sure we are all laughing and having fun.
Giving Back: The Gift of Photography
I think giving back is important. My dad and my Jesuit education are to thank…or maybe to blame…for my desire to serve. For most of my childhood, I grew up in a family that didn’t have a lot of money. My dad owned a small corner grocery store in South St. Louis, Clancy’s Market. He […]
