R+K’s Engagement Session at Jefferson Patterson Park |SOMD Wedding Photographer

The covid 19 pandemic forced me to postpone some sessions, but I finally was able to get Renee and Kyle’s engagement session at Jefferson Patterson Park on the calendar! Once I was legally allowed to shoot again, I had to find a venue that allowed non-client residents. Then, we had to wait for Kyle to be able to get a haircut! We finally nailed down a date, and the weather was perfect!

An engagement session at Jefferson Patterson Park is fun because you can get so many different looks. It is a bit park, so I used some different spots than I did with Alec and Courtney’s engagement session earlier in May. Walking around always allows me to help prep my clients for their wedding day, and it allows me to get to know them a bit. I love hearing how they met, how long they’ve been together, what has been planned for the wedding.

Like so many couples, Kyle and Renee met online and dated for years before getting engaged. Renee is a planner, and even though their wedding at Robin Hill Farm and Vineyards isn’t until next June, she has almost every detail of the wedding planned already! Here’s hoping the vaccines are out, and the 2021 wedding season will be perfect!

I can only be a lead for a few weddings a year since I teach full-time, and I’m really picky about when they happen. Some times in the school year, like the end of a quarter, would just not be feasible for me to maintain my sanity and to be my best for my wedding clients! Summer weddings, though, are my fave! And I love that I can help second shoot year round with other photographers to keep fine tuning my skills.

It’s not too late to get on my calendar for a session yet this summer. I’m offering discounted Front Porch mini sessions, and I’m also scheduling special sessions for high school and college grads in the class of 2020. Regular family sessions and engagement sessions are also being offered; I even have some room this summer for elopements if your wedding day had to be postponed. I’m just maintaining social distance and wearing a mask!

I’m waiting to book fall sessions; I just don’t know what will happen with the pandemic and any issues with a second wave. Just keep in mind, I have to obey any county and state laws with restrictions to photographers. I am hoping that I can offer fall sessions, but I’ll wait until August to announce openings.

To start chatting about your session, write me here or e-mail me at teresa@tcjdesign.com. It’s never too early to get on my calendar for late summer and fall!

WEDDING & PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY FOR PEOPLE WHO want their story told

Hi. I’m Teresa. While photography is a part-time job for me, documenting your stories doesn’t ever get treated like it’s not important. My full-time gig is teaching high school English, journalism, and photography at an all-boys’ school in Washington, DC. Journalism is my favorite subject to teach because it is as much about writing as it is about the art of observing the world, and I became a photographer because of my experiences in photojournalism.

You’ll see in galleries with my families, children, newborns, or weddings, my style definitely is more about documenting connection and trying to create real moments. I love a good portrait, but my heart is happiest when I get real smiles from people loving on and playing with each other.
