Southern Maryland Engagement Photographer | C + A at Jefferson Patterson Park

Because of the pandemic, I wasn’t sure if I was going to even meet Courtney and Alec before their September wedding, but luckily, Calvert County allowed photographers to finally take photographs last weekend. The glitch: not everything in Southern Maryland is open to people outside of that county. In fact, many of the Calvert County parks and beaches are open to Calvert County members only.

St. Mary’s was open, but Charles County, where my couple live in Southern Maryland is still closed. Luckily, I discovered one of my favorite places in Southern Maryland, Jefferson Patterson Park, was not checking IDs so I could finally do their session!

I know Courtney wanted wanted a session near water, and we hoped to be at Bayfront Park in Chesapeake Beach and then drive over to the North Beach boardwalk, ending the session with margaritas at the outdoor patio at the local Mexican restaurant. The pandemic, however, had other concerns. Lucky for me, Courtney is a respiratory therapist at a hospital in Baltimore and totally understood the new rules.

I had so much fun getting to know Courtney and Alec, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that their September wedding in St. Mary’s County goes off without a hitch!

It’s not too late to get on my calendar for a session yet this summer. I’m offering discounted Front Porch mini sessions, and I’m also scheduling special sessions for high school and college grads in the class of 2020. Regular family sessions and other sessions are also being offered; I’m just maintaining social distance and wearing a mask! I have some openings, too, for engagement sessions and weddings in 2020 or 2021.

I’m waiting to book fall sessions; I just don’t know what will happen with the pandemic and any issues with a second wave. Just keep in mind, I have to obey any county and state laws with restrictions to photographers. I am hoping that I can offer fall sessions, but I’ll wait until August to announce openings.
