Simple spring wedding at Springfield Manor & Distillery
It’s been one year since this spring wedding at Springfield Manor & Distillery for M+W. Somehow, we didn’t get rained on last spring, which is amazing since photographer friends told me that it was raining all day two miles in any direction. The peaks of the hills behind Springfield Manor & Distillery in Thurmont, Maryland must have been just right for this late March wedding.
Somehow I am the luckiest and get these intelligent, chill couples who trust me to document their day. They had the sweetest engagement session at Green Spring Gardens. This couple had been together since high school and one of my favorite details was that the first necklace he gave her was wrapped around her bouquet.
This day was wonderful because it was full of pretty and delicate details that just made this simple spring wedding at Springfield Manor & Distillery beautiful. The bride had a first look with her dad and her groom. What was great about this venue is that we had porches we could use for the misty weather. We also were able to keep wedding party and family formals on the porch steps and concrete; we had them before the ceremony and the fact that we didn’t have to go out and mess up dresses before the ceremony was nice.
The venue was also ready to turn this simple spring wedding at Springfield Manor & Distillery into an indoor wedding if need be. There was a great plan in place and the day of coordinator was helpful and organized. Luckily, we didn’t need it!
Key takeaways to remember for couples working on their schedules: Be flexible. You can’t control weather, especially in Maryland. Trust your photographer. Getting bridal party and family photos before the ceremony lets you enjoy your friends more afterwards. I adore first looks… that moment with dad gets him into your story earlier in the day. For the couple’s first look, they exchange gifts, and it was some really sweet and sentimental time for just them. If you plan an outdoor wedding, make sure you have indoor options for your ceremony and photos! Going to popular venues out of season and Sunday weddings can save money!
