Green Spring Gardens Engagement Session

It’s so hard to believe it but it is wedding month for the sweet couple that  had a Green Spring Gardens Engagement session. They have known each other forever, and their story is sweet!

During the height of the pandemic, they would have picnics and parks, so they wanted to capture that vibe at their Green Spring Gardens engagement session. Even though their session was in June, weather in the DMV always tends to be unpredictable. I am so thankful that this sweet couple trusted me and we got their session in between huge cells of thunderstorms!

Megan has the most unique engagement ring made by Chysella. I cannot wait to see her complete set. I kind of love that at this wedding I get to see these families who have known each other for almost forever be formally united. I know how special it will be for all of them!

I love engagement sessions for so many reasons. I love getting to know my couples a bit more. Sometimes I will have a zoom meeting with a prospective client, but often engagement sessions happen so early in the planning that it’s my first time I get to meet them. I value you these so much as part of my work. I am able to see their heights, find poses that make them look amazing, and get them comfortable with me and the camera.

Fun fact: most of my clients have NOT had professional photos before. Having these engagement photos is so key to flow on their wedding day. Because most couples aren’t super comfortable in front of the camera, working together beforehand means we can make magic happen in a short time on their actual wedding day. We’ve gotten over the awkwardness!

If you are interested in having me as your wedding photographer, hop on over to my wedding page to learn a bit more about what I value and then head to my pricing page to see if I am in your budget. I think being transparent is important, and you shouldn’t have to make five meetings or emails with me to get the details. Your time is worth something! Reach out if you think we’d be a good fit! And look for a blog on Megan and Will’s wedding at the Springfield Manor and Distillery in late March or early April!

WEDDING & PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY FOR PEOPLE WHO want their story told

Hi. I’m Teresa. While photography is a part-time job for me, documenting your stories doesn’t ever get treated like it’s not important. My full-time gig is teaching high school English, journalism, and photography at an all-boys’ school in Washington, DC. Journalism is my favorite subject to teach because it is as much about writing as it is about the art of observing the world, and I became a photographer because of my experiences in photojournalism.

You’ll see in galleries with my families, children, newborns, or weddings, my style definitely is more about documenting connection and trying to create real moments. I love a good portrait, but my heart is happiest when I get real smiles from people loving on and playing with each other.
