Georgetown Waterfront Engagement Session | A + K
March 6, 2022 By  Teresa With  0 Comment
In  Couples  /  Weddings

I am not going to lie; I was stoked when I asked to do a Georgetown Waterfront engagement session. It had been on my bucket list for a while, and one of the things I love about that area is you get a DC vibe without having to pay for a permit. It has great light, and we were lucky enough to have flexibility to do it on a warm weekday in February. Because we opted for a weekday, we had less people to content with, and the weather literally was perfect!

You may wonder why I have been dying to do a Georgetown Waterfront engagement session; well, it has a lot of the things I like for my sessions. It would be great for a small family session, too. If you have been following me for a while, you know I love locations that give me different vibes, and this definitely met that criteria. We could have easily had the cute Georgetown neighborhood vibe, the canal area, and the waterfront. We concentrated on the latter two for this session. It also has places for natural seating, which I feel like is a plus. I love using blankets in the middle of an open field, but that doesn’t work so well in an urban environment. If I want to play with posing and have it feel more natural, then places for natural seating like benches and steps is a must.

If you are wondering what else makes my photography style different, you’ll notice I value connection and movement. I know that when I personally am posed, I’m so much more self conscious. I get much more comfortable in front of the camera if I can move around, and after years of being in the photography business, I’ve learned that movement helps my client of every age achieve that same level of comfort.

I also love connection, so you’ll see that I try to give you prompts, as well. I want to solicit as much natural emotion as I can during any session I run, and if I see something off posing wise, I’ll gently try to suggest a quick fix without making too much of a deal.

I loved seeing A+K’s connection. A is a former student of mine (I feel SO OLD), and it was so great to catch up with her and meet her partner (who is alum of where I currently teach). I don’t usually do Friday weddings because of teaching, but I couldn’t say no when she asked. To do a former student’s wedding is such a gift! I am so excited for their day in October!

My calendar is already getting pretty booked for 2022! I am striving for better work/life harmony, so I’m really trying to not overbook so I can be the best for my clients, family, and students at school. I have openings for sessions in July and August, but the rest of the year is getting pretty booked! To schedule a session, check out my pricing and the types of sessions I offer, and then head over to my contact form here. For weddings and elopements, I have some July and August availability and some December availability, but that’s it. I’m already getting inquiries for 2023 so don’t wait!

My 7:20 am National Mall mini slot for August 20 is still available! Tag a friend you think might be interested. Details are in my most recent blog on www.tcjdesign.com.
Families with older kids, please get your photos taken, too. Documenting all milestones are important… and your oldest going off to college is definitely one of them!
    My world. ❤️
When our photographer canceled, I bought a tripod and just attempted photos myself. Not as much fun for me, but I got in the frame!
If you are on my mailing list, tomorrow evening you will want to check your email! Access happens around 7 p.m. for tree farm minis! This year they will be held on November 5 with an inclement weather date of November 6. The link will go out to the general public not on my mailing list on Thursday morning at 9 a.m. These usually book fast, and pricing wise, they're my best deal of the year, so Merry Christmas a bit early! :) 🎄

I've been fighting some website issues since Friday that haven't been resolved, but that doesn't mean that I can't advertise that my National Mall Minis are happening again on August 20!

Sessions will be 25 minutes long and held near the Lincoln Monument. Exact location will be dependent on weather and lighting. Cost is $375 (and that includes the permit fee) and includes your choice of 10 digital images from the edited gallery. For $150 more, you can have all of the images from your gallery! (If we have bad weather, we will reschedule is Sunday, August 21.)

This also includes consultation prior to session, access to my styling service, session fee, online gallery of edited images, and print release for all images. Only six people are allowed for these sessions. Additional family members are $20 per person. (You can have 12 people if you book an hour.)

Because of the permit fee, there is no returning client discount. Maryland sales tax will be added to the listed price. Clients can purchase prints in gallery store. To book, go here: https://tcjdesign.hbportal.co/schedule/60e34d525768d7003239e230

One slot has already been taken!
I'm so bad at blogging and social media, but summer is finally slowing down for me to catch up on photography. This cutie's first birthday finally has a permanent place on my website. Check her out! https://tcjdesign.com/blog-southern-maryland-family-photographer/
Happy belated Fourth of July! I’ve been especially quiet lately and stepped a bit back from taking sessions when the school year ended since my family went on vacation, my husband retired from the Air Force (yesterday), and I’ve been on call for jury duty. I’ll be taking very limited sessions this school year since I’ve had a bit of an increased load this school year, but I will be opening a few August dates. Tree farm sessions are still happening! More details on those soon! I promise I’m not gone for good, and I’ve been doing a lot of engagement sessions over at @tcjdesignweddings if you want to check them out!
