DC War Memorial Wedding | Lisa + Spencer

I was thrilled when Lisa contacted me about documenting their big day, and she said it would be a DC War Memorial Wedding. Documenting an engagement session or wedding at this cute little spot on the National Mall had been on my bucket list for a long time! They had a gorgeous engagement session in Old Town Alexandria; these are so important so I can get to know the couple and they get to know me. They are key for making wedding day smooth!

Lisa and Spencer had an intimate DC War Memorial wedding with just their siblings and parents. Even though it was small, they had all of the details! Lisa entered from the reflecting pool; her dad was the cutest at keeping her de-stressed and having fun. May of 2021 brought the brood X cicadas, and their wedding wasn’t exempt from their attendance!

The ceremony was perfect; they wrote their vows and they were so sweet! After the ceremony, they ended their DC War memorial wedding with a dance and family formals, ending the day with a portrait session for just them on the National Mall. We used their allotted time at the DC War Memorial, and then made our way up to the Lincoln Memorial for some more portraits. The entire event was just two hours, and then they headed back to Virginia for a gathering at her dad’s house to celebrate!

While my 2021 is booked, I still have some 2022 openings for anyone looking for a wedding photographer. You can head over to my wedding page to learn more information, but I love smaller weddings and elopements, and my style is very documentary during the wedding day! Like is true in all of my work, I LOVE connection and real, raw emotion.

WEDDING & PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY FOR PEOPLE WHO want their story told

Hi. I’m Teresa. While photography is a part-time job for me, documenting your stories doesn’t ever get treated like it’s not important. My full-time gig is teaching high school English, journalism, and photography at an all-boys’ school in Washington, DC. Journalism is my favorite subject to teach because it is as much about writing as it is about the art of observing the world, and I became a photographer because of my experiences in photojournalism.

You’ll see in galleries with my families, children, newborns, or weddings, my style definitely is more about documenting connection and trying to create real moments. I love a good portrait, but my heart is happiest when I get real smiles from people loving on and playing with each other.
