Old Town Alexandria Engagement Session | Lisa + Spencer

When Lisa contacted me for their elopement, I asked if she wanted to do an engagement session so I could meet them. There wasn’t a ton of time between when she contacted me and TODAY, their wedding day, but I knew an Old Town Alexandria engagement session would make their short wedding day go so much more smoothly.

Even when clients say, “Oh, we got an engagement session already,” I like to emphasize why doing one with your wedding day photographer is so important. You learn posing for your big day, so the short time we have for bridal portraits goes so much more smoothly. Not everyone is comfortable in front of the camera, so you get to practice before your wedding. You get to know ME and my editing style and photography style, and if we aren’t a good match, you can say something before your big day.

This Old Town Alexandria engagement session was perfect; we had great weather, even though my other sessions around that time had to reschedule. They were dressed perfectly, and Lisa and Spencer brought an openness to learning and having fun, with made their session so much fun for me!

We did a really short session, but because Lisa and Spencer were so easy to work with we were able to cover a lot of ground for the Old Town Alexandria Engagement Session. Today, they are getting married at the DC War Memorial. I can’t wait to document this small ceremony for them!

I only can take a handful of weddings each year, and I already have one 2022 wedding booked. If you have a summer wedding, that’s when I have the most openings and flexibility with my teaching to give you my best. If you like a documentary style, I’m your girl! E-mail me at teresa@tcjdesign.com to get the ball rolling for organizing your day!

WEDDING & PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY FOR PEOPLE WHO want their story told

Hi. I’m Teresa. While photography is a part-time job for me, documenting your stories doesn’t ever get treated like it’s not important. My full-time gig is teaching high school English, journalism, and photography at an all-boys’ school in Washington, DC. Journalism is my favorite subject to teach because it is as much about writing as it is about the art of observing the world, and I became a photographer because of my experiences in photojournalism.

You’ll see in galleries with my families, children, newborns, or weddings, my style definitely is more about documenting connection and trying to create real moments. I love a good portrait, but my heart is happiest when I get real smiles from people loving on and playing with each other.
