Southern Maryland Senior Session at Jefferson Patterson Park

I loved my Southern Maryland Senior Session at Jefferson Patterson Park with Rachel this past May! She was so comfortable in front of the camera, and that made my job incredibly easy. I knew the vibe she wanted, and we made sure her outfits matched. One of my favorite places for a southern Maryland senior session is Jefferson Patterson Park just because there is so much variety with looks. We get so many options and so much variety in the gallery, as Rachel’s session shows.

In May, the hill in Jefferson Patterson Park has great wild flowers. I’ve lucked out and used them two years in a row. I also can get some pretty golden hour light if it’s sunny, but if the sun his hiding, there are some pretty clouds, too! I love that Rachel work a hat for her session; it really added a bit of variety and fun, making it seem like she had a third outfit without any effort.

There is no wrong time to book a senior session. I have had them the summer before senior year, during the school year, and even right before graduation. My biggest advice since I teach high school students is don’t procrastinate in booking. My calendar is usually booked three months out, and I have very limited availability left this fall, although I may be able to add a senior or two if you are willing to go on a weekday after school.

Think about the vibe you want for your location. We can find great places for a southern Maryland Senior session here in Calvert County, but Annapolis and even DC make awesome backgrounds, too. Choose a location that means something to you; think about your vibe, and make sure your location matches that!

To book your session, e-mail me at teresa@tcjdesign.com or head on over to my contact page. And let me know which of these images from Rachel’s gallery you love the best!

WEDDING & PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY FOR PEOPLE WHO want their story told

Hi. I’m Teresa. While photography is a part-time job for me, documenting your stories doesn’t ever get treated like it’s not important. My full-time gig is teaching high school English, journalism, and photography at an all-boys’ school in Washington, DC. Journalism is my favorite subject to teach because it is as much about writing as it is about the art of observing the world, and I became a photographer because of my experiences in photojournalism.

You’ll see in galleries with my families, children, newborns, or weddings, my style definitely is more about documenting connection and trying to create real moments. I love a good portrait, but my heart is happiest when I get real smiles from people loving on and playing with each other.
