DC Area At Home Newborn Session | Baby KJ

I love storytelling, and having a DC Area at home newborn session allow me to just that! Ideally, we want your session to be in just one day, but if schedules don’t accommodate that, I’ll sometimes break a newborn session into two! I did that for sweet little KJ, whose dad is in the military and couldn’t be part of the sleepy newborn session, so I documented her portraits when she was just about three weeks old and then came back a few weeks later to capture her room and the whole family!
I have wraps, some simple, classic outfits, baskets, fillers, hats, and headbands to share with my family but in my six years of being a photographer and offering a DC area at home newborn session, I have realized my families like to incorporate more of their own personal items, and I love it since it means my galleries have great variety! It also helps me tell their stories better. I love showing off the nursery you worked so hard on, the many gifts from important family and friends, and showing the connection between the family and baby. (And be sure to check out KJ’s sweet little heart birthmark at the bottom of the gallery! )
What is great about me coming to you is that you don’t have to stress about being late or forgetting anything, especially if it is your first. Everything you need is RIGHT THERE. Snacks, burp cloths, extra diapers, changes of clothes, all of the details… you can’t forget anything. You’re in the place where you’re most comfortable, and that always shows in the photos. It’s a huge part of why I love those at-home newborn sessions versus a studio.
The best time to book a newborn session is any time between twenty weeks and the start of third trimester. Sometimes, it works if you book later, but it is harder for me to guarantee availability, especially during the school year since I teach full-time.
