Calvert County Maternity and Lifestyle Newborn Photographer | The K Family

I love being a Calvert County maternity and lifestyle newborn photographer. When families book both of these sessions, I love it because I get to do so much storytelling! I’m photographing little Caleb’s first birthday SUNDAY so I figured I better give his mama’s maternity session and his newborn session a permanent place on my website before then.

I do give a small discount if you book a maternity and lifestyle newborn session together. Many people wonder what makes lifestyle newborn photography different? I’m a very kid and baby led photographer, meaning, I like to let them tell me what works or not. For newborns, that means that if they’re awake, we start with semiposed family photos…with and without family in your home. Popular places for photos are the family room, nursery, or master bedroom. Sometimes we’ll even sneak outside! My approach to posed photography is very simple. I do not do overly posed photos and I want to keep your baby safe. Solos can take place on your bed, in the crib, or in a basket. I always like for the baby to be on his or her back. I use a white noise app if my families don’t have one, and I hook up all families with my Preparing for Your Newborn Session Guide before I come.

We did the maternity session at Bayfront Park (AKA Brownie’s Beach). I love this beach, but it’s now only open to Chesapeake Beach residents. It has great light and you can get some versatile looks. They live just five minutes away, and were willing to keep big brother up for that magical light, which I so appreciated.

When little brother Caleb came, the house was the focal point! I usually do my newborn sessions in the late morning before lunch or early afternoon after lunch…usually, we opt for the times where the light is the best in the house. I love being a Calvert County Maternity and Lifestyle Newborn Photographer. Getting to tell my families’ stories is seriously the best. You can see I love weaving in both details and more traditional posing…I consider myself semiposed…and I will always let the kids take the lead. Best to keep them happy to ensure the session is a success, so older siblings always get extra attention!
