DC Engagement Session | S+J’s National Mall Session
I recently realized S+J’s DC engagement session never got a permanent home on my website, so guess what…it is time for their DC engagement session to get it up.
What I loved about this session: we moved. They loved on each it other and it didn’t seem fake. They were relaxed. We visited multiple places on the National Mall…it made a magical DC engagement session.
We started at the DC War Memorial, walked along the reflecting pool starting from WWII and then making our way to the end by Lincoln. Lincoln had just begun its construction so we couldn’t venture up there, but the DC War Memorial is a great option for those columns. The area around the DC War Memorial is also quieter, so it’s a great spot for a DC Engagement session or even a DC elopement or wedding. We were there in the afternoon, and while the Mall was busy, the DC War Memorial wasn’t!
From there, we walked along the Reflecting Pool, and I just documented S+J being themselves. The more natural you are, the easier the session is. I have a posing guide I’ll show my couples before their session, and we’ll practice a lot of those throughout just to see what works height wise and what the couple feels comfortable doing. This saves a huge amount of time on wedding days.
If you look at my wedding packages, you’ll see that I include an engagement session in all of these. These engagement sessions are SO important to my work flow with my wedding couples. I’ve even not taken a couple’s wedding if they don’t want the engagement session. I can’t be the best for you without them. It’s where I get to meet you, get you comfortable in front of my camera, practice posing, and learn about you and your story. I am a storyteller, and the engagement session sets the stage for your wedding day. You don’t get money back if you don’t use it… because I don’t actually charge for them. I give you that time as a gift because it allows me to do my job better.
A few more things to note about National Mall sessions…even though engagement sessions are included in my packages, permits for them are not. It’s $145 to secure a permit for a session on the National Mall. If you are in DC and just want an DC engagement session, pricing will be my family collection pricing. I absolutely love our city. Driving by the memorials and photographing couples, families, military, and seniors around these historic monuments never gets old for me. I love being creative and letting this be part of your story! Email me at teresa@tcjdesign.com to book your DC engagement session or wedding today!
