Beach Maternity Session in Calvert County | P Family

I was so excited when Melissa wrote me wanting a beach maternity session; it had been on my bucket list for some time. She wanted to go back to a special place, where her husband proposed near his family’s house. It was a private beach area in Calvert County on the Chesapeake Bay.

I loved being able to weave in a few special items that she and her husband bought for their baby in the beach maternity session. We did some shots of her with her husband, but we spent some time getting Melissa solo, too. She said her husband hated pictures, but he was a trooper! (Side note: I really wish I could just bring a beer for all of my dads and to-be dads!)

If you are planning a maternity session, a long flowy neutral dress always looks amazing. Melissa found hers on Amazon! Styling is a huge part of making your session look amazing. It’s also really important to schedule your session for when you feel best. The beginning of third trimester to 35 weeks is ideal. I know when I was pregnant, I felt anything but beautiful the closer I got to my due date. I just felt huge. you want to feel great about yourself and your body and be comfortable for your poses.

I have a styling service that can help you with getting ideas for outfits, and I would love to hear the vibe you are looking for: beach, urban, field, home. I’m game for any of them! I also give a discount if you combine a maternity session with an in-home lifestyle newborn session so please let me know, too, if you want to book one of those!

If you would like to book a beach maternity session or if you have a place special to you and your partner, I’d love to talk. E-mail me at teresa@tcjdesign.com or through my contact page.

WEDDING & PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY FOR PEOPLE WHO want their story told

Hi. I’m Teresa. While photography is a part-time job for me, documenting your stories doesn’t ever get treated like it’s not important. My full-time gig is teaching high school English, journalism, and photography at an all-boys’ school in Washington, DC. Journalism is my favorite subject to teach because it is as much about writing as it is about the art of observing the world, and I became a photographer because of my experiences in photojournalism.

You’ll see in galleries with my families, children, newborns, or weddings, my style definitely is more about documenting connection and trying to create real moments. I love a good portrait, but my heart is happiest when I get real smiles from people loving on and playing with each other.
