Extended Family Session in NOVA

I love how the military connects people, and this extended family session in NOVA happened because my client saw my work on a mutual friend’s page. (BTW, I reward referrals! My friend has received good discounts and prints for bringing so many friends to me!) I first documented their daughter’s birthday in NOVA (still need to blog it), took their family photos in St. Louis last fall, and then had the opportunity to see some of their extended family again for a session in NOVA. Fun fact: the main family who has booked me three times now doesn’t even live locally! Our paths luckily just keep crossing (although she is originally from the DMV)!

She was coming to the area to visit family and asked about an extended family session in NOVA at her sister’s house. What is nice about these session is you don’t have to wait for a gathering like a wedding to get extended family photos, and each group can get some individual shots, as well. I always love having uncles and aunts around to help get their nieces and nephews smiling.

In this session, I started with everyone and then did each family group and ended with cousins. I love how relaxed everyone was since we had it at her sister’s new home. Bonus: it was SUPER hot and everyone could get A/C between sessions AND the dads could even enjoy a beer during the session.

I know most of us get cell phone pictures with family members we are together, but splurging on an extended family sessions lets you get some quality art with the people you love up in your house!

I’m already pretty booked for all.. I have just one session left for my holidays minis on October 3, and October and November are booked (unless you have already talked to me). I’m now booking into December! Message me through my contact page or e-mail me at teresa@tcjdesign.com to book your session.

I'd love to help create the session you've always been looking for!

I'm glad M let me do something a bit unconventional for part of her headshots session last week. I just couldn't resist the glowy light and being off-centered allows room for all sorts of text on a website. :)
I'm just loving editing this multi-generational shoot. The mom requested details, and I was happy to oblige. Great grandmother's and grandmother's hands that carried and cared for now adult babies now holding fresh tiny ones. I just loved it all. It's not my usual style, but I found myself loving it!

Big week for this kiddo. He makes his First Communion Saturday! I can’t wait to celebrate him. He has such an amazing suit!
Great grandma came to visit the baby, so it was the perfect time for photos of four generations. This is a little more formal than my normal work, but I have a lot of great candids, too. I just love little Cam's smile! Swipe to see one of him solo. He's almost five. months old!
We had such a busy day yesterday running all over. Today, we're catching up on some spring maintenance at home. Who else is loving this warmer weather?

More of this family session in my stories!
I get to do another multi-generational shoot tomorrow, and I just love them. They are that family history documented in a form that generations down the road will see.
Happy Easter from my crew! 🐰🐣Hope everyone has a relaxing day with family and friends. We travelled to St. Louis this past week, so now that we are home today is going to be busy ... we are cleaning the house and getting the dogs from the kennel. We have to be productive today because tomorrow we get to go to the White House for the Easter Egg Roll! 🥚 I actually won tickets through the lottery... we are so excited. Hopefully, I'll be able to get some photos tomorrow.
