Bowie Maryland Family Photographer | P Family at Allen Pond Park

Bowie, Maryland is a place I always have one or two sessions a year, and I can almost guarantee one of them will be in Allen Pond Park. I loved capturing this sweet family of four. We had gorgeous weather last fall, and the kids were so much fun to play with!

I loved that this family opted to coordinate instead of matching in their clothing choices! That’s so important! You don’t want to have the same color top and bottom. Pattern on someone, neutrals, and a pop of color even make for interesting, classic family photos.

This family was great at taking direction and playing! I loved that at the end of the session they were wiling to reward the kids for being good, letting them play on the jungle gym near where we took photos. This meant that I was able to do my favorite type of photography: documentary. For younger kids, I love having a setting that allows for a mix of lifestyle family portraits, formal portraits, and documentary. Oxon Hill Farm is great for that mixture, as are the southern Maryland beaches in the summer. I know many families think that an hour is such a long time, but for me, it almost always goes too fast. And for many kids, the sweet spot where I get those real smiles that mom and dad love is at the 25-minute to 35-minute mark. It takes some kids that long to warm up to the camera!

What is great about a session in Bowie, Maryland is that after the session I usually get to run a handful of errands for my family since all of the stores that we don’t have near Calvert County are just minutes from Allen Pond Park.

It’s not too late to get on my calendar for a session yet this spring. I’m booked for February and April. I have one March opening left, and I have some May weekend and weekday evening availability yet.
