1st Birthday Session at Jefferson Patterson Park

I have been laying pretty low on the photography front, but it was time to blog one my favorite sessions of 2022 — KJ’s 1st birthday session at Jefferson Patterson Park. Why has it taken me so long to blog this session? Well, this year I was promoted to department chair at school. I had a lot of extra work on my plate, and then once summer hit we had an awesome National Park vacation in California (in an RV!) and my husband unexpectedly retired from the Air Force. Since school got out, life has been NON-STOP. But it is finally time to give this adorable first birthday session at Jefferson Patterson Park a permanent place on my blog.

I was lucky to photograph this sweet family a few times. I did KJ’s newborn session, and we actually did it in two parts. Since her dad is in the military, he couldn’t be part of the posed portion so I let them divide it up so we got her when she was still tiny and sleepy for her solos and then I came back a week or so later for the family portion. I also was able to do a tree farm mini for them; they couldn’t make it to my annual event, but I was able to get the farm and do it on another date for a traditional mini that did not disappoint.

One of the most important parts of this session is how well KJ’s mom styled them all. They didn’t know dad was going to be able to come, but his flight suit green was PERFECTION with her romper! The wind didn’t cooperate for the balloon, but the cake session was perfect. I’ll be honest; I love a gallery like this over a posed cake smash in a studio. This family left with so much variety and so many amazing images for their sweet girl’s 1st birthday session at Jefferson Patterson Park!
