Silver Spring Family Photographer | Yael’s First Birthday

Silver Spring isn’t a city I frequent often, but I was able to help out the Elitzur family when their first photographer became ill. Two things I love are cake smashes and big happy families, and I got both with Yael’s family.

First birthday parties are often a reason for many family members to come together, and Yael’s was no exception! Since so many relatives were in the DMV visiting them in Silver Spring, Yael’s mom decided it was the perfect time to get some updated extended family photos tacked onto a mini for her niece and Yael’s cake smash.

Yael’s cousin Liat enjoyed an intimate tea party in the front yard with a lot of loving relatives watching every movement! From the tea party, we moved to family portraits with many friends and family to bubbles and photos with precious family gifts to cake smash.

Not many little girls can handle going from activity to activity, but Yael and her cousin just rocked the morning (and her cousin was even sick!). I know from photographing other extended family sessions that these are precious photos… you never know when you will lose a relative, and these photos can make timeless keepsakes for generations!

If you would like to book a session, I have very few fall openings, so contact me today through my contact page or by e-mailing me at teresa@tcjdesign.com. And don’t forget I have openings still for my holiday minis at the Christmas tree farm! Details are on the Facebook page. I’m back at my teaching job, so I am back to taking only a few sessions per month, but now that my husband is home from his deployment, I can travel a bit further to places like Silver Spring! 🙂

WEDDING & PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY FOR PEOPLE WHO want their story told

Hi. I’m Teresa. While photography is a part-time job for me, documenting your stories doesn’t ever get treated like it’s not important. My full-time gig is teaching high school English, journalism, and photography at an all-boys’ school in Washington, DC. Journalism is my favorite subject to teach because it is as much about writing as it is about the art of observing the world, and I became a photographer because of my experiences in photojournalism.

You’ll see in galleries with my families, children, newborns, or weddings, my style definitely is more about documenting connection and trying to create real moments. I love a good portrait, but my heart is happiest when I get real smiles from people loving on and playing with each other.
