Mommy and Me Photographer in Downtown Annapolis: Diane + Michael

This was year three of taking spring photos of Diane and Michael, and it is one of the sessions I look forward to most each year. (No lie!) These sessions also tend to show Michael’s milestones from year to year, and I get to capture that special connection that he and his mommy have.

We’ve gone from sitting to walking to running in three quick years! Year after year, Michael loves snuggles and playing with mommy, and I hope this tradition doesn’t end! I always try to capture a few detail shots just to show how much he grows from year to year. Those tiny hands and feet keep getting bigger and bigger, and I know from watching my own kids get older that transition is bittersweet.

One of the reasons I love taking clients with little kids to locations like downtown Annapolis is the variety in looks and how we can keep them on the move. My kids have taught me nothing is more painful than being in one spot and being told to look at the camera and smile. They hate it. I get frustrated. Movement, play, and real connection always gets the galleries my clients and I want! It’s what real lifestyle and documentary photography is about!

If you are looking for spring sessions, I still have openings! I am offering sessions at Historic Londontown Gardens again on May 4 and at Bayfront Park in Chesapeake Beach on May 19 (before they start charging!). Check out my Facebook Events page for special pricing on these. I have lots of openings, so email me at if interested in booking a session!

I’m also booking my summer… while May is pretty full with the exception of  the dates above, I have lots of June, July, and August openings! Now is the time to get on my calendar if you want a session. For information on pricing, check out my Photography Packages page.

Meet Teresa

Hi. I’m Teresa. While photography is a part-time job for me, documenting your stories doesn’t ever get treated like it’s not important. My full-time gig is teaching high school English, journalism, and photography at an all-boys’ school in Washington, DC. Journalism is my favorite subject to teach because it is as much about writing as it is about the art of observing the world, and I became a photographer because of my experiences in photojournalism.

You’ll see in galleries with my families, children, newborns, or weddings, my style definitely is more about documenting connection and trying to create real moments. I love a good portrait, but my heart is happiest when I get real smiles from people loving on and playing with each other.
