Annapolis Newborn Photographer | Baby David {12 days old}
December 31, 2018 By  Teresa With  0 Comment
In  Newborns  /  Photography

I ventured to Arnold, Maryland just outside of Annapolis, to photograph Baby David the week before Christmas. I found some great light in Baby David’s room and was able to capture him with his furry big brother, Percy. While I do a tiny bit of posed photography, the lifestyle newborn shoots are what I live for.

I love the connections between mom, dad, siblings, and furry siblings. I love documenting the details of a nursery. A baby’s parents put so much time into planning every detail of the room when preparing for the baby’s arrival. Why not document it? I know firsthand how precious those first sheets and room decor can be. I bought a neutral pattern for my first baby’s room and was able to use it for all three kids. I still have unopened sheets for their crib in a closet in my basement, and I know I could sell it all as a bundle on a Pottery Barn Kids yard sale site, but I can’t bring myself to do it. It’s that special…

What was nice was we just lucked out and I happened to have a fox outfit with me, not knowing that Baby David’s room theme was Forest Friends and that it was decorated in foxes!

I taught his mom and dad a few things, too… some keys to a successful newborn session are a house that is a tad too warm to mom and dad and a noisemaker or noisemaker app on one’s phone!

If you are interested in booking a mostly lifestyle newborn session with a few posed newborn shots, let me know! E-mail me at teresa@tcjdesign.com or visit my contact page. I recommend booking your newborn shoot between 20-30 weeks. My calendar gets pretty full with lifestyle sessions a few months out. Let me know your due date, and I put that on my calendar. As time gets closer, you just keep me posted on how your pregnancy is going and if there are any changes. The best time to document a newborn session is when your baby is between five and twelve days old.

In the summer, I am available, too, for Fresh 48s where I come to the hospital and capture you for a bit during your hospital stay! I wish I had booked a Fresh 48 for myself with my kids; I don’t remember any of that stay, and my cell phone shots were not very good in the hospital lighting. So think about that!

I can craft a special package if you want any combination of maternity, Fresh 48, or newborn! See pricing on my packages page!

    Happy Father's Day to all of the dads out there, especially those who are celebrating for the first time! Head over to @tcj_photos to see some of my awesome husband!
    PSA from a military spouse: Memorial Day isn't about the veterans currently serving, who have served, or who have died of natural causes. That's why we have days like Veterans' Day or Armed Forces Day. Memorial Day is for those who lost their lives while serving. Last year, we visited the part of Arlington to see my husband's friend who died in a helicopter crash. It was heart-wrenching to see so many people hanging out, having a picnic, and just being as close as they could to their loved ones that left us too soon. I'm so thankful that my husband came back from those deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan and that he's been able to text me at the end of every helicopter flight to say he landed safely. Remember the real meaning of the day as you enjoy extra time off with your family and friends. It's not about honoring all Veterans. It's about honoring those who gave up everything for us.
    I'm glad M let me do something a bit unconventional for part of her headshots session last week. I just couldn't resist the glowy light and being off-centered allows room for all sorts of text on a website. :)
    I'm just loving editing this multi-generational shoot. The mom requested details, and I was happy to oblige. Great grandmother's and grandmother's hands that carried and cared for now adult babies now holding fresh tiny ones. I just loved it all. It's not my usual style, but I found myself loving it!

    Big week for this kiddo. He makes his First Communion Saturday! I can’t wait to celebrate him. He has such an amazing suit!
    Great grandma came to visit the baby, so it was the perfect time for photos of four generations. This is a little more formal than my normal work, but I have a lot of great candids, too. I just love little Cam's smile! Swipe to see one of him solo. He's almost five. months old!
    We had such a busy day yesterday running all over. Today, we're catching up on some spring maintenance at home. Who else is loving this warmer weather?

More of this family session in my stories!
