University of Maryland Engagement Session | O+C

University of Maryland made the best backdrop for Olivia and Cody’s spring engagement session. They chose to have a UMD engagement session since Olivia went to school there, and they grew up close to the school, both frequenting campus.

Their story is a true love story. They’ve known each other since they were FIVE years old. Olivia was Cody’s first crush even! They went to school together up until high school. Cody finally mustered the courage to ask Olivia out in 7th grade; he even remembers the date—March 5, 2007. They dated until the start of their junior year in high school. After breaking up, we’d cross paths here and there but didn’t really have much to do with one another for the next eight years.

Then in April of 2018, Olivia reached out to get lunch and catch up with Cody and another childhood friend. Lunch ended up turning into spending the next SEVEN hours catching up. By the end of that day, Cody was pretty much smitten by her again. However, she wasn’t so easily convinced. With a little persistence and patience, he finally won her over again.

They officially got back together in 2018. Cody shared this: “After a year of dating, we moved in together in August of 2019. We spent the next few years growing and learning what it means to be a true partner to each other. I finally had the thought of what am I waiting for, I need to marry this wonderful woman. We were planning a trip to Disney with her sister for the spring of 2023, and I knew I had to have a ring to propose to her on this trip.” Cody proposed at Disney!

Their comfort with each other was so obvious at their UMD engagement session. We walked around and found pretty places for them to just be with each other. We were lucky to use the student center for their outfit changes. I just felt them both relax when they dressed more casually!
