Family photography is why I got into photography in the first place. As a military family, we moved from state to state, and I realized that we never were somewhere where we could just hand a camera to a relative and get a family photo. When I was little, my mom, grandma, and uncle took so many candid photos of my sister and me with our relatives. Part of why I decided to make my love of a photography a business was because I wanted other military families to have a chance to get in the frame. I didn’t think that we needed to sacrifice that with all of the other sacrifices we make.
This past summer I did a lot of photography, but I wasn’t documenting families as much, and my heart missed it. I spent the summer doing some professional development through Clickin Moms and Katelyn James, and I had a location I wanted to try out, so I put a model call out for a family, and photographer Kasey Ezzat replied.
I was grateful she was willing to try out a location in Prince George’s County… I know she had access to the look I was going for in Howard County, but since most of my clients are from Southern Maryland, I wanted to have a location that would work for family photography in that demographic.
We actually ventured to a location I had been to before, but I wanted to try a few new playful poses and play a bit with the light to see if I could get the look I wanted for at this spot. I’m so happy with how these turned out, especially considering the field was buggy, and it was SUPER hot. Her husband and kids were troopers!
I included a lot more than I usually do in a blog, but I wanted to showcase what I love about my final galleries: play, connection, and details. If nothing else, those are the three words that I hope my clients see when they look at my work.
And this location will definitely be on my list for my clients. I’m excited to be going back there in September already!
