Edgewater, Maryland Beach Session

Summer and early fall are the most magical times for an Edgewater, Maryland Beach Session. One of the things I love about living in Northern Calvert County is that we have a number of great small beaches around that can give such a variety of looks.

This family wanted to do an extended family session with their grandparents. I loved it. We also wove in their pets, but for this beach, we had to push their date back to after Labor Day since pets are not allowed from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Here are some tips for a beach session: weekday evenings have amazing light and are way less crowded. July, August, and September give you later sunsets that make it doable after work or school. Your sunsets start getting a lot earlier once October hits, so you may have a harder time scheduling!

Maryland did make beach sessions a bit harder for weekends, too! They added reservations for some of the most popular beaches, which can make things a bit tricky, too. My advice: look at the time of sunset, and plan to start your session an hour and half before that. Many of the beaches start clearing people out 30 minutes before sunset. Choose a weekday, and just take off work a bit early. You’ll have smaller crowds and that will make your photos so magical!

Also, pro-tip: pack an extra change of clothes and towels in the car. Let those little kids (and even the big kids) get the water and get wet. Such magic happens for behind the camera when the poses are not happening and everyone involved is just being themselves! Email me at teresa@tcjdesign.com to book your session today!
