I know that money can be really tight for most small businesses and non-profits, so one of my goals in my web design services is to see what we can do with FREE WordPress themes before purchasing a theme.
WordPress has a lot of great, free themes, and sometimes you don’t need all of the bells and whistles that accompany themes that you can buy. Sometimes, free doesn’t work because you do need more features. However, there are many, many plug-ins that exist and that allow you to customize your site.
Right now, I’m totally content using and tweaking a free theme for TCJ Design. As I grow, I may re-brand and use something with more features. For now, free is good.
When I redesigned Cardinal Hickey Academy‘s website this past fall, we needed something with more features, so I paid a minimal price for a theme and did a complete reinstall. I also paid for a theme and tweaked that theme when designing the website for my educational consulting business, The Techy Teacher. (That site is up for a re-brand soon, I think!)
My real goal is to help you save money and to get you to the point where you don’t need my services. I know many web designers are happy to do the work and want to take your money. They charge a lot for their services. I am eager for your business, too, but I want to save you money AND teach you how to maintain your site so you can save even more money in the future.
